What’s up!

December 20, 2008

Ok so I’ve realized that blogging isn’t a daily hobby of mine now. So I won’t make promices 🙂

I am taking linux off of my laptop. I need the space for music, and if there was iTunes for linux, screw windows! So I can’t try kde 4.1, amarok 2 (i will for windows, sounds exciting), and kdenlive (I wish vmware was faster!)

Swim team website is going well, I want my own now!

Partitioning management in vista is alright (compared to nonexsitant in xp). Not useful yet. Delete partitions? yea, move partitions? Nope. I need to fix my MBR too… but you can only do that with a vista disk… WTF? the program is prolly 355kb why can’t msoft include it?

I hope that apple will come to macworld and say “PRESENTING SNOW LEAPORD… COMPATIBLE WITH PC’S!” Belive me, I would ditch windows that instant. I won’t pirate osx (with osx86) cause apple has mean lawyers. But really, I want OS X!

1. When you import CD’s, MD5sum it to the songs on the server… too many scratches? Just give the people a clean copy of the song.

2. DVD import. Handbrake is a wonderful program, but iTunes can handle videos quite well.

3. No DRM. Come on, I just requiem my DRM’d music anyways. It’s a stupid waste of resources.

Yea, so I bought 5 tv episodes on trains yesterday, hmm, where did all the HD download options go? I could have sworn you could get things in HD on itunes before, did they downgrade? Come on, my screen is 1280×800 not 320×240 people.

Why iTunes fails.

September 17, 2008

iTunes is fun and nice. But it’s also super bloated and slow (windows). But those two things aren’t why teenagers are ditching itunes for alternative programs.

While the iPod is a great concept, saddly to apples loss, it will never be everyones music player. It’s mine, and I like it, but some people don’t have the money, or for the most part, an interest in apples media system. Why? Because they were made for each other, and each other only! I can’t use itunes to put music on my phone! I can’t use rhapsody to put music on my ipod! So what if someone has an old computer and they receive a shiny new ipod for Christmas? They’re screwed, that’s what! Their computer doesn’t have the ability to run a program of that much usage. Right now, with my windows pc, with itunes inactive, it is hogging 60MiB of ram from me! And itunes will run in the tray and you’ll never know it too! Itunes also has a little catch called DRM from it’s store. that means that the music you buy will only ever be playable on apple’s devices. (Ahem, noone has ever got past it…) and that is stopping you from even getting Mp3 files from itunes. I mean by default it uses AAC MP4 so it’s incompatible with most programs off the bat. Well I do have one positive thing to say, itunes plus. Yep, look for the grey cross when you buy music and BAM no more drm there!

The number one reason iTunes is failing? It doesn’t give you free music like ol’ limewire does 😀

Requiem is BROKEN!

September 16, 2008

Well iTunes took one more thing from me: requiem. Darn, I really enjoyed having MY music on my phone. I don’t even upload music. I just used requiem for my phone and other computer. I hate iTunes Fairplay. It’s NOT fair. Quite an oxymoron it is. I mean if I pay $.99, can I at least play it in a program with out a little ‘i’ in front of it? I guess not becuase apple wants to take over the world. Oh well, I am still gonna get a macbook.

Want a CD? Buy it online.

September 13, 2008

Today I wanted to get The Classic Crime CD, so I went shopping with Madre. Of course of our many desinations, we have selected Wal*Mart and Target (○) as a OK place to look. So there I was searching the endless shelves of walmart for a CD that should have been there. It wasn’t at either store. It kinda sucked 😛

But one lesson I had learned was that walmart is a terrible place to buy CDs. They have no organization there wahtsoever, so finding a CD was like finding a needle in a haystack. Lesson of the day? Buy CD’s from iTunes, then rip off the DRM.

Turns out itunes was not starting earlier. I looked around, played with some processes and noticed bittorent running. Nothing illegal. Just seeding openSUSE. After I quit that process [bittorent] itunes started. Hmm… I wonder? That’s a really ODD glitch apple? Wouldn’t want bittorent to steal your thunder [constant income].

I hope this gets fixed. Apple has no right to decide to keep their program from working if I am running an alternative program.

iTunes 8 First Impressions

September 9, 2008

Here is my take:

– No major UI update, new album viewer is a lot faster though

– Visualizer on windows kinda sucks

– Genius seems likes a way to boost apple sales. It is nothing short of amazing though.

Good way to bring on the 8oh. I am uber impressed with the new ipods too. Seems like apples trying to phase out the classic though.

edit: Music seems to run at a different process then iTunes User Interface. It’s slow (as always) but the music still is there
