GE Hybrid Locomotive

GE is my favorite train company out of all the rest. Mostly because I already see their products on a day-to-day basis. They are currently developing a hybrid train that captures extra energy from the heat of the brakes and stores in a battery, as demonstrated in the video below:


GE is currently testing technology on buses to make rail transport even more efficient then it is by capturing the heat released by the brakes to charge a battery to help fuel the engines.


What if we did this with trucks? Like when they are traveling downhill they make some heat with their brakes. Well, it may not happen soon, but the effort to save gas gets an A+ from me!
